About
This is Rhi:![]() |
| Rhi is…an insufferable academic with a unique sense of style and an attitude to match. She is also trying her hand at being pretentious enough to refer to herself in the third person.
She is currently attending the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with focuses in geology and Japanese. She’s pursuing more specialized studies in paleontology, cultivating a particular affinity for marine invertebrates. Some may say that she is doing it simply to be able to ponce around in the desert and claim that it’s for science. In the upcoming fall semester of 2009, she will be attending Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata-shi, Japan (near Osaka). In addition to going though the daily life of a Japanese college student, she will be the T.A. for the online version of Geology 204 (Earth and Life History), a course that will be instructed from Scotland by Dr. Rex Hanger. To that end, the students in Whitewater will have the interesting opportunity to experience a class being conducted from three very separate points in the world. This blog has been created to chronicle her study abroad experience—everything from preparations to cultural insights to daily musings. Also, there will be special attention given to the geological end of this trip. Feel free to contact her with any comments or questions. |
